
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player. She plays as captain and striker with the San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the highest division of women's soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team alongside Carli Lloyd and Megan rapinoe from 2018 to 2020. Following her graduation earlier from the University of California, Berkeley and playing for the California Golden Bears, Morgan was drafted number one overall during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. There, she made her professional debut and assisted the team in winning the league championship. Morgan, then 22 years young, was the youngest national player at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 where she placed second. She scored the winning goal against Canada during the 123rd minute of the semi-final at the 2012 London Olympics. She was the second player in the United States to have 20 assists and 28 goals for the year 2012, which made her the sixth and youngest prolific player in the United States to score 20 goals in one year. After being named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the year, Morgan was also selected as a FIFA World Player of the Award finalist. Morgan played a key role in helping the United States winning their titles during the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2019. She was named to both the Dream Team and won the Silver Boot in 2019.
