Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. This is a natural characteristic for a girl who was of Irish heritage, that was surrounded during her early years by talented family members as well as parents. Maureen was born in this cosy haven, August 17, 1920. She was raised by her parents as well as family members. Marguerita FitzSimons was a gifted contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer club in Ireland, and also ran the Shamrock Rovers soccer club and a Dublin business. Maureen was the second of six FitzSimons children. Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen loved playing rough athletic games as a child and excelled in sports. Her passion was coupled with an unnatural talent for performing. As a result, she won the majority of the Feis Awards for acting and dramatic performances in her home country. At age fourteen, she was admitted to the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue the art of opera and classical theatre.
