Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American singer-actress and former model. She was the lead female performer in Apollonia 6 and co-starred in Prince's film Purple Rain from 1984. Apollonia was christened as an actress and female singer by Prince. Through the 1980s she was among many other artists that benefited from Prince. Patricia Kotero, born 1959 in Santa Monica California began her career as an actress and model. The latter part of the 70s was when she appeared on CHiPS. The female lead of Prince's Purple Rain was her first role from 1984. Prince changed the girl's name in this period. She was replaced by Vanity with the female trio Vanity 6 who performed in the film in the role of Apollonia 6 replacing Vanity. Sex Shooter on the soundtrack was a minor success for the trio, but as Prince's Duet Partner on Take Me with You she had more success. Kotero and Prince have a disagreement over her future career. Apollonia6 broke up and Kotero didn't keep her romance with Prince. She went on to appear in a few minor roles during the time (reportedly refusing to take part in The Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) and then landed an appearance on the evening-time show Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia's debut album debuted in 1988. However, the R&B/dance tracks weren't well-received by those who bought music. The album soon vanished. Apollonia remained in the spotlight (if slightly underneath the radar) as an actress in the following decade, appearing in small TV roles as well as minor film and released an exercise video. Apollonia's album "Stay With Me" came out in 1997. Later, she returned to school and earned the degree of filmmaker. In addition, she founded her own production company.
